I am allergic to small talk and the inane questions we sometimes ask when we meet one another for the first time. I’m interested in what you truly care about and I love thoughtful conversation.
It’s also good business. One of the keys to creating high performing teams is creating a culture of psychological safety and trust, where everyone feels seen, heard and valued.
To more readily access that place of meaning, I often engage in asking intentional questions, in sometimes unexpected ways.
I host gatherings called Deep Dinner where we engage in super rich dialogue about the things that really matter to us. I often host interactive Sticky Question boards where participants respond by writing their answers on sticky notes, posting them in the safety of anonymity. I use social media to ask questions of my family, friends and colleagues. All of these towards the aim of experiencing our shared humanity and collective wisdom.
I believe: humans + powerful questions + safety = magic
… whether facilitated in a corporate environment or at home among friends and family,
